Collaboration without Borders

Forging stronger cultural and cross-sector international relations for Hull & East Yorkshire

HEY Creative today launches a new report that makes eight recommendations to advance Hull & East Yorkshire’s arts, culture and heritage on the global stage.

The report also maps over 50 collaborations across 30 countries. From grassroots exchanges to major institutional partnerships, Hull & East Yorkshire is already globally engaged and is primed for further, ambitious collaboration.

About the Report

Going beyond cultural sector connections, the report identifies opportunities to build on established international relationships in areas like trade, education and civic life. It creates space for new, cross-sector partnerships that reflect the region’s geography, history and outward-looking ambition.

In particular, the report identifies Flanders (Belgium), Rotterdam (The Netherlands), Fengtai (China) and the University of the Arctic (Finland) as priority areas for future development.

Launched to coincide with the 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture, the report was funded by British Council, and undertaken by KADA Research, a leading consultancy that balances deep regional knowledge and international expertise.

It was informed by regional consultation and shaped by key partners including Hull City Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the University of Hull and Future Humber. The report is intended for use by everyone across the cultural landscape – from independent artists and grassroots groups to funded organisations and major institutions.
